The Bowes Museum has an extremely interesting and unique selection of art and antiques and is renowned for its collection. The museum contains paintings by El Greco, Francisco Goya, Canaletto, Jean-Honoré Fragonard and François Boucher, together with a sizable collection of decorative art, ceramics, textiles, tapestries, clocks and costumes, as well as older items from local history. The museum's surroundings have a beautiful coffee shop and a great play park for children to play and also a great space for if you are wanting to pack a picnic!
Why not take a walk around the stunning Teesdale area, see the scenery and make some friends with the alpacas! This is a great experience for everybody, especially families, allowing for a fun activity and something new and different! Who wouldn’t want to take some furry alpacas for a walk?
Raby Castle is a wonderful day out for families, with a range of great activities alongside special events and attractions such as the Woodland Adventure Playground and the Stables Tearoom. It is definitely one of the most impressive castles in the North of England and was built in the 14th century by the Nevill family. It is a great day out for all ages and has many beautiful sights that make it well worth the visit.
